Embracing Autism Grant

The Embracing Autism Grant provides support for autistic children and adults by offering grants for sensory, therapeutic, and special interest items. Whether you’re a member or non-member, you can apply to receive a grant worth up to $100 each month.

With our new membership option, it’s easier than ever to stay eligible with automatic re-entry into the monthly drawing. Plus, members can enjoy extra entries for active participation in our community! Non-members are welcome to apply monthly and can earn additional entries through social media challenges.

We’re expanding the program to include adults and ensuring its sustainability by transitioning to a self-sustaining model. This means we can continue providing life-changing resources for those who need them, thanks to your support.

Note: Applications are currently closed until our new program launches in June.  Everyone who previously applied has been grandfathered in until then, at which point nonmembers will need to re-apply each month.

How It Works

Membership

Members: Once you become a member, you don’t have to apply each month. Your application stays active as long as your membership is active, and you can apply for the grant anytime. Members also can redeem 5 extra entries per month into the grant pool and are eligible to earn additional entries via social media challenges.

Non-Members: Non-members must reapply every month to gain one entry into the random selection pool but can earn additional entries by participating in challenges through social media and our Embracing Autism Community chat. Each month, non-members will need to complete a fresh application.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply for the Embracing Autism Grant, you must meet the following criteria:

  • U.S. Residents: The grant is available to U.S. residents only.
  • For Sensory, Therapeutic, or Special Interest Items: Grants are for items that promote sensory or therapeutic benefits or cater to the specific interests of the autistic individual.
  • Members: As long as you remain an active member, your application will stay valid.
  • Non-Members: Non-members need to reapply each month and submit the required documentation each time.

Grant Details

  • Application: Members benefit from a new faster simplified application process and only need to apply once. Nonmembers apply monthly and will continue to use the current application process.
  • What You Can Request: One item up to $100. Items must be sensory, therapeutic, or special interest-related (e.g., weighted blankets, noise-canceling headphones, sensory toys, etc.).
  • Selection Process: Recipients are selected by randomly drawing one recipient each month from both members and non-members, with no difference in the process for members and non-members.

Additional Opportunities to Earn Entries

Both members and non-members can earn extra entries to increase their chances of being selected:

  • Members automatically qualify to claim 5 extra entries each month via our members-only patreon chat.
  • Non-Members can earn up to 5 extra entries by completing challenges such as:
    • Participating in discussions on the Embracing Autism Community
    • Sharing posts on social media and tagging Embracing Autism.
    • Completing other fun and community-driven tasks.
    • More to be announced!

To earn entries, nonmembers must make sure to submit proof of completed challenges (e.g., screenshots) via the application form.

Grant Eligibility & Guidelines

The Embracing Autism Grant offers one (1) sensory, therapeutic, or special interest item, valued at up to $100, from an Amazon wishlist for autistic children and adults in the United States (members) or autistic children in the State of Georgia (nonmembers). Recipients are randomly selected each month.

Note: Due to funding limitations, at this time there will be one random selection a month. Program may be paused when funding is unavailable, conversely additional random selections may be added if funding allows.

  • Members:

    • Apply once, and your application stays active as long as your membership is active.
    • You automatically qualify to redeem 5 extra entries each month.

  • Non-Members:

    • Must live in the U.S. state of Georgia.
    • Must be under 18 (children only).

Note: We respect your child’s privacy and aim to only ask for the absolute minimum information needed. Please do not include any other private details.

Yes, you may refer more than one child per household so long as they meet the criteria.  However, you must submit a separate referral form per child.

  • Members:

    • Apply once, and your application stays active as long as your membership is active.
    • You automatically qualify to redeem 5 extra entries each month in the patreon chat.
    • Earn more entries by completing challenges on social media and Embracing Autism Community.
  • Non-Members:

NOTE: If you or your child is selected, you will be sent an email with important information and next steps to claim the grant. You must have this completed and submitted to our team within 24 hours of receiving the email notification in order to be considered. Failure to submit the necessary information within the 24 hour window will result in a forfeiture of the grant, which will be passed on to the next  randomly selected recipient.  Members receive 48 hours grace period instead of the 24 for nonmembers.

Recipients are selected by pooling together all entries from both members and non-members and drawing one recipient each month. There is no difference in the selection process for members and non-members. The selection is random.

You can request one item up to $100, specifically related to sensory, therapeutic, or special interest needs. This includes sensory tools, therapeutic items, or things that support specific interests of the individual.

Non-members must provide proof of age and autism diagnosis for children. The proof of diagnosis must be a letter from a doctor on official letterhead stating the child’s name, date of birth, and the autism diagnosis. A referral from a parent or guardian is also required.

Recipients are randomly selected by pooling all entries each month. The recipient is announced at the end of the month via livestream on the Embracing Autism podcast and email.

For every 50 new members, we will add another monthly grant slot. This ensures we can continue to financially support the program. If membership numbers decrease, grant slots may also be adjusted.

While both organizations aim to help individuals, the Embracing Autism Grant is different from Make-A-Wish Foundation. Make-A-Wish typically focuses on fulfilling specific personal wishes related to experiences or events, while the Embracing Autism Grant provides sensory, therapeutic, or special interest items that help support the daily needs and well-being of autistic individuals. The Embracing Autism Grant is also open to autistic individuals of all ages, not just children.

If you’re interested in supporting the Embracing Autism Grant, there are a few ways you can get involved:

      1. Sponsorship: As a sponsor, you can contribute funds to directly support the grants we offer. This helps ensure that we can continue providing sensory, therapeutic, and special interest-related items to those who need them.

      2. Product Donations: You can donate sensory items, therapeutic tools, or special interest-related products that can be gifted to our recipients. This is a great way to contribute directly to the well-being of those in our community.

      3. Partnerships: We’re open to collaborations with businesses, organizations, or individuals who want to align their brand with autism support and advocacy. Whether it’s through product promotion or event sponsorship, your partnership will help amplify the reach and impact of the Embracing Autism Grant.

For more information on how you can become a sponsor or partner with us, please visit Support Our Mission and complete the form or contact us at sponsor@autismwish.org. We appreciate your support!

The Embracing Autism Grant is limited to one item per recipient, valued at up to $100. Recipients are responsible for ensuring that the item they request is appropriate for their needs. Recipients are selected from a pool of applicants, and the selection process is random. Selection is based on eligibility and availability of funding.

For Members, their application will remain active as long as their membership is active, and they will be automatically considered each month.

For Non-Members, they must reapply each month as their application will not roll over. If a grant cannot be awarded due to lack of funding, non-members will need to reapply in the following month for another chance. Non-members who are selected will be removed from the pool for one year after receiving a grant to ensure fairness to other participants.

There is no guarantee that an applicant will be selected or receive a grant, but we will do our best to ensure equal opportunity for all applicants. We reserve the right to modify or end the program at any time, with no liability to recipients. The program is subject to availability, and we cannot guarantee that all applicants will receive a grant. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@autismwish.org.
